Launches Potawatomi Design Group
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 4, 2006 – The Potawatomi Business
Development Corporation (PBDC), owned and operated by the Forest County
Potawatomi Community, announced today its acquired dlf Architects and Engineers
of Norman, Oklahoma, and will re-name the firm the Potawatomi Design Group. This
is the first 100 percent ownership acquisition for the PBDC and the second major
acquisition in three months.
“The acquisition of dlf is an excellent fit, and is a
sign of progress and momentum in the tribe’s ongoing commitment to diversify
beyond gaming,” said Carol Leese, Potawatomi Business Development Corporation
CEO. “The firm has a tremendous amount of talent and resources, and can grow the
business quickly.”
Dlf’s current clients include City of Seminole, Tinker Air
Force Base, City of Oklahoma City--Will Rogers Airport, and Rolling Meadows
Housing Addition. The firm will pursue the appropriate minority ownership
designations which positions the firm for additional business opportunities with
Federal government contracting and corporations throughout the U.S.
“The fact that Potawatomi Design Group will be a wholly
owned Native American architecture firm is a major advantage in the
marketplace,” said Don Frick, Potawatomi Design Group President. “We’re excited
about the potential.”
The firm recently hired a marketing director and will soon
begin a national marketing and sales campaign. In addition to its current
Oklahoma City area office, the firm will open a Milwaukee office.
PBDC recently took a majority ownership stake in the
technology firm 1Prospect. Until the dlf and 1Prospect acquisitions, PBDC’s
previous business activity focused on fund or partnership investments. PBDC has
a two-prong strategy of passive investments and acquisitions. To date, PBDC has
made over 12 investments worth more than $20 million.
