U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Bandstand

US Army Corps. of Engineers
Ft. Sill, Oklahoma

This bandstand was first built in the early 1900's for Fort Sill and its soldiers. It was deemed a historically significant building after it was damaged by a fire and high winds. PDG was hired to replace the previous historical structure with a new structure, matching the original design. The new structure required the installation of new sound equipment - required to be hidden due to the historical nature of the structure. Additionally, the construction drawings were required to be submitted for review and approval from the State Historical Society in addition to the Comanche Nation. Furthermore, all projects that are completed on Fort Sill are required to meet archaeological requirements and minimize soil disturbance. Therefore, helical piers were used for the buildings structural system to secure the structure to the ground, thus minimizing any soil disturbance.
